About Dr. Wickware

Dr. Wickware grew up in the western suburbs of Chicago. Her interest in caring for animals started at a young age and developed as a volunteer at local animal shelters and while showing horses. She moved to Ohio to compete on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams for Miami University where she majored in Zoology and earned a Bachelor of Science. She started to develop an interest in Ophthalmology while shadowing specialists in preparation for veterinary school. She then attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University where she completed research in genetics and ophthalmology.

Dr. Wickware received the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists’ Veterinary Student Award for her research and passion for veterinary ophthalmology. She then went on to complete a Small Animal Rotating Internship with Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Nashville, Tennessee where she devoted extra time to traveling for additional ophthalmology
rotations and experiences. Dr. Wickware completed a specialty ophthalmology internship and ABVO certified residency in comparative veterinary ophthalmology with The Animal Eye Institute.

Her interests outside of the veterinary field include operating her small art business, watching true crime shows and sports, and wine tasting. She is excited to start her new chapter in Lexington with her two dogs and provide high level care promoting vision for all of the small animals, exotics, and horses in the area.
